Amsterdam-based WordProof announced that it would enable consumers to timestamp content on the Ethereum blockchain. It can help with copyright issues, thus a proof of who produced the piece of content. The announcement comes said during the BlockDown Conference 2020 on October 22. BlockDown is the world’s biggest 3D virtual blockchain conference that takes place worldwide.
Timestamping is significant as it offers a unique fingerprint, or hash, for the newest version of the content which has been attached to the blockchain. This provides proof that the owner of the content developed it, and altercation does not take place.
Moreover, WordProof offers copyright security for content creators & appropriate information for website visitors. It permits internet users and content creators with the tools to create a safer and more trustworthy internet space. The service initially rolled out for support on WordPress. WordPress is a widely popular content management system. Moreover, it powers approximately 37% of all websites and has a 60% share of the CMS market.
WordProof onboards Yoast SEO as an investor
WordProof newly won Europe’s Blockchains for Social Good competition (€ 1,000,000) and onboarded Yoast SEO as an investor. Additionally, it displays the platform’s consistent approach to developing blockchain-powered applications.
The launch of the Timestamp Ecosystem will allow various stakeholders to join forces. It will include site owners like publishers, e-commerce websites, businesses, advertisers, big-tech, and policymakers. Moreover, WordProof says that being blockchain sceptic is vital to bring these stakeholders together. Additionally, this explains why WordProof now maintains the Ethereum blockchain adjacent to EOS and Telos.
The WordProof press release is timestamped on the Ethereum blockchain, which can be verified by ticking on the “View this content’s WordProof Timestamp certificate” at the end of any content. However, the launch supports take a significant use case of blockchain technology a step further. Moreover, it will provide the masses with readily available and verifiable information.
Crypto Ecosystem associates with WordPress
Crypto is frequently associating with WordPress. In April 2020, a blockchain startup incubator named Draper Goren Holm revealed the first DEX plugin for the CMS platform. However, the plugin enables website owners to highlight a built-in DEX that enables users to switch between crypto tokens and stablecoins.
Moreover, the official WordPress site already has three pages of plugins described as crypto-specific. The most popular one incorporates a crypto payments portal with over 10,000 active installations and a crypto price ticker widget with above 7,000 active installations.
