SingularityNET AI plans to port to Cardano from Ethereum
SingularityNET migrating to Cardano will be swapping some of the current ERC-20 AGI tokens to Cardano-based AGI tokens.

SingularityNET, the platform behind the AI social robot Sophia announces plans to integrate with Cardano which may mean porting entirely from Ethereum network.
In a September 30 announcement, the blockchain-based marketplace for AI software applications unveiled a collaboration partnership with IOHK, the body behind Cardano blockchain by Charles Hoskinson.
As per the announcement, SingularityNET team is “seriously discussing” with IOHK on a possible move to Cardano blockchain. The implication is that it will be “swapping some of the current ERC-20 AGI tokens to Cardano-based AGI tokens”. Also, that means Cardano’s Plutus programming language may be substituting Ethereum’s Solidity should the migration be 100%.
SingularityNET says its AI marketplace is not moving to Cardano immediately as it still has to discuss with its community. But why considering moving away from the largest smart contract blockchain in the first instance? SingularityNET cites the increasing cost of using Ethereum as well as the need for faster speed.
Meanwhile, Cardano’s Shelley Mainnet has “level of maturity that makes it possible to port a complex blockchain application like SingularityNET”.
SingularityNET originally conceived to be a multi-chain AI application marketplace, adding Cardano into its fold feeds into its broader vision.
SingularityNET CEO Ben Goertzel in discussion with Charles Hoskinson claims he envisions the AI marketplace to be a multi-chain platform. So even if Cardano performs better than Ethereum, it may not necessarily dump the latter.
“If the Cardano portion works much better, … then everything should migrate there. If it turns out that the Ethereum portion is more useful, for some purposes, the Cardano is useful for some portion, then so be it right?”Ben Goertzel
SingularityNET is unrelenting in delivering a Singularity future where machines surpass biological intelligence. As a platform that developed the artificial intelligence software component for Sophia, it’s well on its way to realizing that dream. Sophia was created in 2017 is undoubtedly the world’s most expressive robot. It has travelled to more than 65 countries and also delivered a speech at the United Nations conference.
Asides SingularityNET AI platform partnering with Cardano, in 2018, Sophia partnered with the Maltese government to draft citizenship test.
