ConsenSys Labs declared that applications are open for the Filecoin Launchpad Accelerator, powered by Tachyon. Moreover, this cohort will be concentrated on startups developing accessible, interoperable, programmable tools. However, it will focus on infrastructure, for the distributed Web via IPFS and Filecoin.
Throughout 2020, 15-20 teams will be offered 12 weeks of funding, benefits, mentorship. It will provide programming around business and blockchain-specific issues. Additionally, it will culminate a Demo Day and post-program fundraising support. Teams leverage access, exploring from entrepreneurs and legal advisors to pathbreaking technical researchers. Accordingly, each team will get $80,000 in funding. Teams can apply here, and applications close on August 21st.
Joseph Lubin tweeted announcing that Filecoin Launchpad accelerator is now accepting applications.
ConsenSys Labs’ Tachyon accelerator will be different this year as it will be co-supported by Protocol Labs. Protocol Labs is an open-source research, development, and deployment laboratory established in 2014. It’s projects involve IPFS, Filecoin, libp2p, etc. Additionally, IPFS’ aims a fully distributed web, where applications don’t live in centralized servers. It works over a network made up of users’ computers.
How Filecoin Operates
Filecoin(FIL), rewards miners for competing to store encrypted data on the Filecoin network properly. Since its crowd sale in 2017, Protocol Labs culminates the protocol and builds towards its upcoming launch. However, Filecoin’s testnet includes 25 PiB of storage, thousands of data storage providers. Additionally, it has dozens of applications building on the protocol. Thus, it has over 1,350 open-source software and contributors. Filecoin’s incentivized testnet officially launches of August 3rd, 2020. Accordingly, the Filecoin public mainnet expected to launch in Q3 2020.
The Filecoin Launchpad, powered by Tachyon, will offer funding, one-on-one mentorship, and programming. Therefore, it will stimulate the adoption of Filecoin in the Ethereum, DeFi ecosystems. It will draw web developers seeing to combine with an efficiently priced and geographically distributed storage network.
This association of ConsenSys Labs and Protocol Labs develops upon years of partnership between the Ethereum and IPFS ecosystems. The launch of Filecoin will stimulate collaboration and provide new opportunities for shared use cases. This accelerator will help work as a launchpad for more confluence between decentralized protocols and networks.
