Today Digital Asset and Red Date Technology, one of China’s Blockchain-based Service Network (BSN) founders, declared plans to integrate the DAML smart contract language with BSN. Additionally, DAML will become the exclusive standard for promoting decentralized applications (dApps). The prominent characteristic of DAML is that it can operate on most enterprise blockchains and Ethereum.
Supported by the State Information Center of China (SIC), the BSN is a low-cost, accessible onramp. It is targeted to help individuals and small businesses to adopt blockchain. There is a Chinese version and a global one. The former only promotes enterprise blockchains, originally Hyperledger Fabric and China’s FISCO BCOS. However, the global one combines with various public blockchains, including Ethereum, EOS, Tezos, Nervos, NEO, and IRISnet.
Diving into more about DAML’s Interoperability
BSN’s founding members are SIC, China Mobile, China UnionPay, and Red Date Technology. Moreover, the network previously has 130 nodes across China. A few months ago, it declared that Tencent’s associate WeBank would combine DAML with FISCO BCOS, China’s key to Hyperledger Fabric.
WeBank proposes to offer that work to BSN. By November this year, there will be a pilot for a DAML application interoperating over networks between Hyperleger Fabric and FISCO BCOS. The pilot will test DAML’s interoperability across two ledgers, Hyperledger Fabric and Webank’s FISCO BCOS, and its integration with its fundamental architecture. However, the solution will be commonly accessible in 2021.
Recently, DAML operates on various blockchains; however, the smart contracts function on a single network in each case. So far, DAML has integrated with VMware Blockchain, Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, Sawtooth, and Besu as well as multiple databases. In terms of interoperability regarding BSN, there are plans to develop an Interchain Communications Hub utilizing IRISNet’s IRITA based interchain service. Additionally, it employs the Cosmos/IRIS SDK, one of the better know interoperability solutions for public networks.
